Buffalo tragedy

Bills tight end Kevin Everett is still sedated after spinal surgery. It's bad enough that they aren't even going to wake him up for 24 to 48 hours. My legal medical expertise makes me think that they don't want him to wake up so he doesn't move abruptly and set back his spinal surgery.

Fuck, that's a bad injury.

Kevin Everett is all that anybody in Buffalo is talking about. Obviously all of our thoughts are with me, but tonight I heard a story that there is less than a 5% chance that he will be able to walk again.

One has to ask, for how long can you, in good conscience, watch a sport in which the athletes seriously injure themselves for your enjoyment? Repeat concussions leave players with a lifetime of headaches and short-term memory loss. The constant hitting and pushing leaves players with arthritic joints at very young ages. Every ten years or a so, a player gets put into a wheel chair. The Buffalo Bills and the New York Giants each lost four starters in yesterday's games - that's four out of twenty-two. For how much longer can the league keep this up?
